Charles Edward Stevens

Private Charles Edward Stevens, G/19177, 7th Battalion, Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent Regiment), was born in Barming, East Farleigh, Kent in 1888. He lived at White House Farm, Colemans Hatch and 38 Granville Road, Tunbridge Wells, and enlisted in January 1916. He was killed in action on 21st March 1918 near Chauny, France, age 29 and is buried in Chauny Communal Cemetery British Extension: Grave 1. J. 12.

He was the son of F. Edward and Rosaline Stevens. He was married to Alice (Wheatley) (1889) Stevens and had the following children; Alice Cecelia (1908), Emily Rose (1910), Caroline A (1914). His pre-war occupation was as an employee of Rickwood & Co Vale House for 15 years. The 1911 census lists his as a Bill Poster.
