Charles Raymond Butler

Rifleman Charles Raymond Butler, 11007743, 9th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), was born in Malling District, Kent in 1912. He lived at 2 Sunnyvale Forest, Forest Row. He was killed in action at the Battle of Bois des Monts, Point Saffery on 6th August 1944 near Brouay, Caen, France, age 31 and is buried in Brouay War Cemetery : Grave V. A. 3.

He was the son of Charles Wood Butler and Edith Eleanor (Smith) Butler. He was known as Ray.
