Ordinary Seaman Charlie Wheatley, SS/9214, HMS Shakespeare, Royal Navy, was born in Chuck Hatch on 20th July 1900. He lived at Spring Cottage, Colemans Hatch and Brickyard Cottage, Colemans Hatch and he enlisted on 19th July 1918. He was died on 8th February 1921 in Portsmouth District, age 20 when he drowned accidentally and is buried in Colemans Hatch (Holy Trinity) Churchyard: Grave B. 21 A.
He was the son of Jesse (1874) and Ada (Divall) (1874) Wheatley.
Listed on the War Memorial in Hartfield. He is also listed on the Memorial in the Vicarage Rooms, Colemans Hatch, for those who returned home safely.
