Private David Weekes, G/60598, 9th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, was born in Frant in about 1880. He lived at No 1 Oak Cottage, Chuck Hatch and enlisted in East Grinstead. He was killed in action on 9th April 1917 near Arras, Pas de Calais, France, age about 37 and is buried in Ste. Catherine British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France: Grave G 2.
He was married to Naomi (Divall) (1886) Weekes. His pre-war occupation in the employ of Mr Benson of Buckhurst Park as a Gardener. He was formerly No 23392, 6th Battalion Middlesex
