Lance Corporal Frederick Stephen Fielder, 20999, 2nd Battalion, Border Regiment, was born in Paxtol, Kent in 1892.. He lived at 8 Bolebroke Cottages, Perry Hill, Hartfield and enlisted on 1st September 1914 in Battersea. He was killed in action on 27th June 1916 near Bapaume, France, age 24 and has no known grave and is listed on the Thiepval Memorial : Pier and Face 6 A and 7 C.
He was the son of William (1868) and Ann (1871) Fielder. His pre-war occupation was a porter for Elders & Fyffes, a shipping firm in London. His brother Edward Cecil Fielder died on 19th July 1916.
