Frederick William Hill

Gunner Frederick William Hill, 124708, 1st Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, was born in Hartfield in 1886. He lived in Tunbridge Wells but previously lived at Brick Kiln Farm, Ashdown Park, Hartfield and enlisted in Worthing. He was killed in action on 31st July 1917 near Ypres, Belgium, age 31 and has no known grave and is listed on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial : Panel 9

He was the son of George and Emma Hill. His pre-war occupation was a Gardener. He was known as William.

Listed on the War Memorials in Colemans Hatch and Hartfield.
