Lieutenant George Frederick Baylay, 1st Cav. Field Squadron, Royal Engineers, was born in Helensburgh, Dunbartonshire, Scotland on 23rd April 1898. He lived at Ravelin House, Portsmouth. He was killed in action on 23rd
He was the son of Colonel Frederick Bayley (1865), Royal Engineers and his wife Marion Kirkpatrick (1871) Baylay. His pre-war occupation was a schoolboy at Haileybury. He attended Sandhurst in 1915 and was commissioned into the Royal Engineers.
He is not listed on either of the War Memorials in Colemans Hatch and Hartfield.
There is a brass plaque on south wall of Holy Trinity Church, Colemans Hatch in his memory, though it has not been possible to ascertain any link to Colemans Hatch.
