George Kenneth Thompson Fisher

Captain George Kenneth Thompson Fisher, 1st/4th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment, was born in Barrow, Lancashire on 4th August 1879. He lived at 23 Launceston Place, London. He was killed in action while on patrol duty on the night of September 2nd/3rd when a sniper took a shot at him then threw a grenade. He was carried to the first line trench but only lived an hour. He died on 3rd September 1917 near Gaza, (Palestine), Israel, age 38 and is buried in the Gaza War Cemetery: Grave XXIV. A. 12.

He was the son of Bishop George Carnac Fisher and Mary Penelope Gwendoline Fisher. He was married to Janet Katherine Mary (Anson) Fisher and had the following children; Anthony GA 1915, Basil M 1916. His pre-war occupation was at the Labour Exchange at the Board of Trade (London & South Eastern Division) from 1912.
