George Maskell

Private George Maskell, G/5679, 9th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment, was born in Heathfield in 1882. He lived at Butcherfield Cottages, Hartfield and enlisted in Tunbridge Wells. He was killed in action on 25th September 1915 in the Battle of Loos, Pas de Calais, France, age about 33 and has no known grave and is listed on the Loos Memorial: Panel 71.

He was the son of Henry (1856) and Naomi (Braban) (1865) Maskell. His pre-war occupation was a Grinder at Mill. His brother Mark died on 10th November 1917.
