Harry Wheatley

Private Harry Wheatley, 11406, “D” Squadron, 5th (Royal Irish) Lancers, was born in Colemans Hatch in 1895. He lived at Hillside Farm, Colemans Hatch. He was killed in action on 26th March 1918 near Poziers, Ovillers-la-Boisselle, Somme, France, age 23 and has no known grave and is listed on the Pozieres Memorial: Panel 3

He was the son of Joseph (1860–1928) and Ellen Eliza (Welfare) Wheatley (1861–1938). His pre-war occupation was a Farm Labourer. His sister Alice was married to George Weeding (1885) who died in 3rd May 1917.
