3rd Battalion, Coldstream Guards, was born in Tonbridge in 1897. He lived at Wren’s Warren, Hartfield and enlisted in July 1916 in East Grinstead. He died of wounds in the face, back and right forearm, and subsequent gas gangrene on 14th December 1917 at Le Treport, near Dieppe, France, age 20 and is buried at Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport, France: Grave VI. D. 11A.
He was the son of Horace (1870) & Kate (Ashby) Burfoot. His brother Wilfred died on 12th February 1943.
