Lieutenant Marmaduke Charles Henry Francis Joseph Casimir Blennerhassett, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, was born in Churchtown, County Kerry, Ireland on 20th November 1902. He lived in Upper Hartfield, London and Scotland. He was killed in action on 25th May 1940 on board HMS Greyhound during evacuation of soldiers from Dunkirk, age 37 and is buried in Dover (St James’s) Cemetery: Grave Row E Joint Grave 3.
He was the son of Sir Arthur Charles Francis Bernard Blennerhassett, 5th Baronet, and of Lady Mary Frances Blennerhassett (nee von Aretin). He was married to Lady Gwenfra Mary Blennerhassett (nee Harington-Morgan) and had a son, Sir Marmaduke Adrian Francis William Blennerhassett, 7th Bt. who was born on the day his father died. His pre-war occupation was an Engineer.
