Lieutenant (Viscount) Robert John Ochiltrie Stuart, 311623, 9th Queen’s Royal Lancers, ‘B’ Squadron, Royal Armoured Corps, was born in East Grinstead District on 12th December 1923. He lived at Old Lodge, Nutley. He died of wounds on 17th September 1944 in Italy, age 20 and is buried in Ancana War Cemetery near Loreto, Italy: Grave IV. C. 7.
He was the son of Arthur Stuart, M.C., 7th Earl Castle Stewart, and Eleanor May (Guggenheim), the Countess of Castle Stewart. His brother David died on 10th November 1942.
